Who does not love those steady moving dolly shots where the camera moves around the subject giving motion and energy to otherwise dull talking head. Of course, it's always easier said planning your shots in advance and using simple tricks along the way can do wonders with your work in the end. you may not be able to afford assistant sliding the camera down your rails, or maybe you'd like to have consistency from shot to the other, maybe because you need to track movements for composite shot.. The movement and the precision allow for repeatable and exact shots. For anyone looking to buy slider the obvious reasoning would be, the bigger the better, and that is not always true. Add to that, especially during interview, movement is more than enough, and it allows you to use single tripod to hold it... good tripod in case you are using slider, or couple of stands if you opt for bigger one are absolutely necessary. If you want to increase the sturdiness you can use stabilizer arm like this to avoid flex when at the end of the rails... instead of enhancing the shot conveying energy you'll create mess and distract your audience from the talent. Different shots will require different speeds, and good rule of thumb is about 30 35 seconds and your mileage may vary...
