Taiwanese publication has published today claiming that 2019 iPhones will come with USB-C support, and the vague wording makes it hard to decipher what they are referring to exactly... Apple is redesigning chargers and related interface for its iPhone and iPad devices, and will have its 2019 series of iPhones come with USB Type-C support, according to sources at IC vendors.. The flashiest take would be that Apple is planning to remove its Lightning connector from iPhones, favor of more adopted USB-C port, and that perennial rumor has been proven time and time again.. vague report from The Wall Street Journal last year ignited speculation that iPhone X would have USB-C port, for example, and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said 2017 iPhones would retain Lightning connectors, with added support for fast charging via USB-C Power Delivery.. Given the possibility of wholesale switch from Lightning to USB-C, and that iPhones already support USB-C fast charging, could be referring to the type of adapter included in the box.. The speculation mentioned in the report refers to pair of rumors that have suggested 2018 iPhones will include 18W USB-C and Lightning to USB-C in the box, enabling much faster charging speeds than the tiny square-shaped 5W adapter included with iPhones.. In the end, ing that Apple will not bundle 18W adapter and Lightning to USB-C with iPhones until 2019, rather than this year. transition to USB-C could make sense iPhones, and iPads, and with Apple pushing towards future, it's unclear if the controversy of switching to USB-C would be worthwhile considering the Lightning connector might be removed down the road.. Apple's AirPower charging mat would be March, iPhone SE would launch May or June, and neither release date proved to be accurate.. Seems obvious the charger on the wall is changing from USB-A to USB-C the lightning will still be there on the other end to connect to the iphone ipad magic mouse etc..
