allowing for total of four eGPUs to be utilised. The tester was able to open up three instances of Resolve on iMac Pro and was able to play back all three effects 4K timelines simultaneously without dropping frames.. This would be pretty good in, and we have to consider the possibilities of setting up the system with four eGPUs. Alternatively the Blackmagic Design eGPU is known to give performance bump, and and DaVinci Resolve will utilise them both for very reasonable £1200. You wo not get the same sort of performance as WX9100's, except on MacBook Pro it would still be very useful speed bump for editing.. Is not all this adding of eGPUs bit like adding accessories to DSLR to make it more like camera. What eGPU does get you is expandability for machines such as MacBook Pro and iMac that do not allow you to change their internal components. Granted you will have to upgrade eGPUs at some point, and they make the actual machine you editing on less relevant.. Currently Resolve is the best known app for efficient use of eGPUs. However with Apple making eGPU support even better in Mojave OS with user facing ability to select eGPUs on app basis, things are clearly going to get better.
